Part identification help What this part does, wear signs, and inspection guidance

What this part does

Helps retain the load or attachment inside the hook throat by closing the hook opening during normal handling.

Common signs of wear

Bent or missing latch; weak or broken spring action; latch does not close fully; visible cracking, deformation, corrosion, or looseness.

Possible symptoms

Latch stays open; the load attachment can move toward the hook opening; latch binds or does not return to the closed position.

Inspection / ordering tip

Inspect the latch, spring, pivot, and hook throat together. Replace damaged latch hardware and confirm the replacement matches the exact hook and equipment model before use.

Guidance basis: General hook and lower-block inspection guidance based on manufacturer-style hoist inspection practices. Confirm limits, replacement criteria, and part applicability against the manufacturer manual for the exact equipment model.
