What this part does
Supports the hoist from its suspension point and transfers hoist and load forces into the supporting structure.
Common signs of wear
Hook throat opening or deformation; twist; cracks, nicks, gouges, corrosion, worn saddle area, damaged latch, or loose retaining hardware.
Possible symptoms
Hook does not seat correctly; visible distortion; latch misalignment; unusual looseness or movement at the suspension connection.
Inspection / ordering tip
Inspect the complete top-hook assembly and its retaining hardware. If cracking, deformation, or abnormal throat opening is suspected, remove the equipment from service and compare the hook with the manufacturer inspection limits before reuse.
